Gorgeous Rani and her husband met me at Piedmont Park for their fall maternity photos! Vibe= skyline views and gorgeous gowns.
Rani and her husband met me at Piedmont Park in Atlanta at the end of October for her maternity session with me. She was 32 weeks pregnant with her first baby, a little boy. She found me on Instagram, and after I sent them a list of outdoor location ideas, Piedmont Park was the one they chose. They wanted plenty of different spots for photos with their different outfits.
Below I’m recapping Rani’s session for anyone looking for Piedmont Park maternity photos in Atlanta, but head here if you want more details about my maternity photography!

If you’re local to the Atlanta area, you know Piedmont Park is THE spot for a photoshoot. It has the city skyline, stone steps and walls, winding paths, and photo spots everywhere you look. It’s a dream photoshoot location in Atlanta, Georgia! I have photographed many sessions here, and each time I go, I find new pockets of eye-candy for photo ops.
This session took place at the end of October, so hints of fall were all around. The warm, golden trees in shades of brown, red, orange, yellow, amber, and green were the perfect backdrop for golden hour photos. The fallen leaves scattered across the ground were the cherry on top. It felt WONDERFUL on this fall day! There was a slight breeze and a crispness in the air, but it wasn’t cold, and we also weren’t sweating.
Mama decided to wear gowns from my client closet, which is free btw to all my clients! She started off in my dreamy red, sheer gown which was the perfect gown to wear in the sunlight.
We started in THE spot, the center field at Piedmont Park. Of course there were people as far as the eye could see. So I had to do some major editing in Photoshop to make it look like Mom and her husband were the only people there.

Mom stood in the grass with the Atlanta buildings in the distance, touching her sweet baby bump. The sun lit up her hair perfectly! Dad hopped in for a photo wearing a white, long-sleeve, button-up shirt and grey dress pants. He leaned in and kissed mom on the cheek while holding his hand on his precious baby.

We headed over to my personal favorite spot at Piedmont Park, the main staircase at the center field. There is a giant tree to the left, framing the image perfectly. I placed mama in the middle of the steps. So we could really see both the gorgeous stairs as well as the city skyline.

I had mama hold her dress with her hand. She let the light shine through her sheer, red maternity dress. This vivid red dress went so well with the changing fall leaves.

We then took a few minutes so mom could change her dress, and dad could change his outfit. Dad changed into a blue sweater and light khaki pants. Mom changed into my peach sheer maternity gown with a sweetheart neckline and princess-style straps that draped down her arms.
Before heading to the next location, we took a few more photos at the grand staircase in their new outfits.Mama walked over to the giant stone wall and sat on top of the ledge. Her peach maternity gown draped over the side, adding so much drama to the photo.

I instructed her to hold her hands on her belly, lean back, and feel the sun kiss her skin. The sun was absolutely a paid actor here and shone down to steal the show! Dad joined mom on the steps, placed his hand under her chin, and pulled her in for the most romantic kiss photo.

It was time to get a move on and find our next location. When we found this tree with the most pertty, orange fall leaves, we just had to grab a quick photo here. I had mom and dad stand facing each other while holding hands. Then I gave dad a prompt to make mama laugh. I’ll keep that a secret, but you can always use your imagination what I told dad to do. 😛

As we continued on our way, we stumbled across this tiny patch of heaven. Most people would probably pass by this spot and think, eh, it’s scattered bushes in front of a lake. However, I got one glance at that sunlight and screeched the brakes so quick you’d get whiplash.
This was one of those spots where others might not see the vision. But I saw the dreaminess in this spot, and it turned out to be one of my favorite images from this maternity session. The sun peeking through the red leaves and glowing water made the sweetest photo spot.

Just down the way, we saw another tree with leaves that were just starting to turn colors. These were still shades of green mixed in with the fall colors. But what really caught my attention was the way the buildings and skyline were reflecting off the water.

As we walked around the loop towards the parking garage, I noticed how dreamy this pathway was. I had mom and dad stand together and I got down close to the ground so I could really show off the scenery.

Then I had dad kick rocks for a minute so I could get a photo of just mom as she held her precious baby bump!

The sun was setting, and the streetlights were coming on. We changed mom and dad into their third and last outfits of the day. Dad ended up putting his first outfit back on. Mom stepped into my black and blue tone, mermaid maternity gown. It has a sweetheart neckline and drooped strap sleeves.
This winding pathway was a wonderful spot to stop and take a photo. The streetlights were glowing a warm orange light…and I think blue and orange were made for each other!

Mom placed her hand on her back, with her other hand on top of her belly as she looked up to the sky. We included dad in the last photo as he and mom stared into each other’s eyes.

“Kelsey was amazing to work with! She’s professional, talented, very patient, and honest. I was able to talk to her about my concerns regarding photography and COVID. She paid attention to the weather and the light to make sure our pictures turned out flawless. And they did! Her turn around time was very reasonable and overall, I would recommend her to anyone! Thanks Kelsey, you are truly a great photographer!“
