Marietta Newborn Photographer | Baby Navy’s Studio Session

Newborn

Mom Brianna and her family made the drive from Marietta to my photography studio for baby Navy’s newborn session with me at just 9 days old. I had first photographed Brianna for her maternity session! They already knew they wanted to come back for newborn photos once their baby girl arrived. Getting to photograph this sweet family again made the session even more special!

Below I’m recapping Navy’s session for anyone in Marietta looking for newborn photography with me, but head here if you want more details about my newborn photography!

How great is the name Navy, by the way? Love!!

Newborn Session Outfits and Colors

We went with a mixture of neutrals, soft pinks, and purple, but we HAD to throw one more set in there…Navy for this baby doll’s name!

Baby girl was up first for her big debut wearing a darling white and cream lace romper with a matching bonnet. I placed her on a textured cream blanket and scattered cream flower petals around for a dainty added touch. This baby flashed me a precious little smirky smile. So this Marietta newborn photographer knew it was going to be a great session from here on out.

Next, I moved her to a macrame papasan chair with a pink backdrop. This brought some sweet, girlie warmth to the image. I just love the overhead shots where you can see their precious side profile and squishy cheeks.

Next, we moved baby girl to the bucket where she slept so peacefully. This warm wooden bucket was the perfect size for this baby to rest her little head on her hands. I arranged some pink flowers and greenery at the bottom for some pretty eye-candy.

Because baby girl was so happily sleeping in this bucket, we decided to bring big sister over to get a photo of the two sisters together.

Then it was time to wrap this baby up! I started by swaddling her in my purple wrap in the potato style, which basically makes your baby into a little ball haha. I placed a wooden dough bowl on a wooden backdrop and used purple fabric and flowers for texture.

Baby girl was holding a tiny purple bunny stuffy in her little hands. Also, can we talk about how gorgeous this purple looked on her?!

After the potato wrap, it was time for the peeky-toe wrap where you can see their little feet sticking out of the bottom. I used my navy blue fabric to swaddle her and placed her on a navy blue fabric backdrop.

I have a gorgeous navy blue crystal headband from The Golden Stitch Prop Shoppe that I thought would be the perfect addition to this look. I don’t often get to use my navy blue headbands, so it was fun getting to pull out some of my less-used props.

I love getting photos of babies on a solid backdrop because it allows your focus to be completely on baby. Of course I had to snap a photo of her baby toes—I just love the wrinkly, flaky, little baby piggies!

Family Newborn Photos With Big Sister

Once we were all done with baby girl’s setups, it was time for family photos. The family came dressed in neutral shades of cream and ivory, and mom chose my soft tan backdrop.

We started with the entire family bundled up as mom held baby, dad kissed mom’s head, and big sister glanced over at her new best friend. Of course we had to kick dad out and get a picture of just the girls. Mama and her sweet girls—oh, how this photo made this Marietta newborn photographer heart melt!

Five-year-old big sister was SUCH a camera ham! She was helpful, attentive, and full of smiles. Mom couldn’t help but choose several photos of big sis with her new little baby sister.

Honestly, if I were this mama, I’m sure I’d do the same. There is simply nothing that melts your heart more than seeing your first baby hold your second baby. All the feels!!
