Jen and her family met me at Arabia Mountain for maternity photos where we got both a stormy skies and a golden hour sunshine!
Jen and her family met me at Arabia Mountain in Stonecrest, Georgia in July for her maternity session with me at 32 weeks pregnant. She originally found me through a friend and had already booked a family session with me, so I was SO excited when she reached out again for maternity photos! After years of her twin boys being the only siblings, they finally had a little sister on the way.
Below I’m recapping Jen’s session for anyone in Stonecrest looking for maternity photography at Arabia Mountain with me, but head here if you want more details about my maternity photography!

We photographed this session at Arabia Mountain, which gave us the perfect outdoor setting for her maternity photos.

So the original plan for this session was to go to Arabia Mountain to capture some gorgeous golden hour sunset shots on top of the mountain! However, nature had it’s own plan and a nasty storm rolled in right when we arrived. We went back and forth between if we should go for it or not, and decided to try it out. We both already drove about an hour and a half to get there! So we wanted to at least try. Well we did, but joke was on us! The sky fell down as soon as we started.

We still took photos in the rain, and boy am I glad we did!! But yes did come back another day when it was for sure 100% going to be gorgeous and sunny so mama could get the golden hour photos she originally envisioned.

Mama looked dreamy as ever as she wore a white, strapless boho maternity gown with eyelet lace, with her hair down and a soft curl. We teamed up together to style the outfits for her family, and I just love what we came up with.

One boy wore a white linen button-up shirt with tan khaki shorts. His twin brother wore a green and white striped linen button-up shirt with light khaki shorts. Dad wore a light blue short-sleeve button-up shirt with jeans and brown leather shoes.

We started with a little playtime to get the kiddos warmed up, so I had the boys stand in front of mom and dad and had them tickle attack the kiddos. And just like that, they’re ready for the session LOL!

We finally made it to the top of the mountain, and the sky decided to show off!! The clouds rolled in, the rain fell hard, and the wind was a paid actor blowing mom’s dress and hair so majestically.
I had dad hold his hand under mom’s chin as she held her belly bump, and they kissed just in time for the wind to sweep her dress up. Que my jaw drop. Of course we had to get a family photo on the mountaintop in the rain too.

Just in time for some couple’s photos with mom and dad, the rain decided to kick it up a notch and pour down cats and dogs. Like out of a Nicholas Sparks novel cover. We finished the session off in the rain with mom and dad standing together, forehead to forehead, feeling the moment as the storm rolled through.

This was what I like to call a very, very happy friggin’ accident. Was this the session mama envisioned and waited months and months for? Heck no. She was devastated as was I, buuuuut I like to think it happened for a reason. I mean, do you seeee these rainy storm mountaintop photos? These photos show emotion, a raw, powerful love that I don’t know we would have gotten had it been a sunny day.

Now you know we had to come back another day when it was for sure 100% going to be gorgeous and sunny, and this time, the sun was really showing off!
I found a lovely patch of greenery and trees where the sun was just able to peek through, shining down little patches of sunlight behind them. We scooted on over to another spot close by because I know mama wanted sun…this Stonecrest maternity photographer was going to give her sun, by golly!

The sun stole the show when her twin boys were lovingly doting on their baby sister inside mama’s tummy. I had each of her boys stand on one side of her while they all placed their hands on her belly for a photo of just mama and her children.

After photos in the gorgeous greenery, it was time to head to the top of Arabia Mountain as the sun was setting. The golden light was peeking over the skyline. It covered the family in a bath of warm, yellow/orange light straight from heaven.

I thought mom looked so dreamy here. I had to tell dad to kick rocks so I could get an image of my main star. This gorgeous pregnant mama expecting her first baby girl. The way her hair lit up from the sunshine was something a Stonecrest maternity photographer dreams about.

I’m so glad we went back because these golden hour photos are exactly what mama was envisioning! Buuuut if I can be so honest, after looking back at these photos…the stormy day has my heart! I’m always such a sucker for a golden hour sunset. But something about the mood and emotion in the stormy photos pulls at my heartstrings.
