Alpharetta Maternity Photographer | Understated Lux Studio Session
Lexi made the drive from Alpharetta to my photography studio in July for her second maternity session with me! She was 32 weeks pregnant with her second baby, a little girl this time! I also photographed her first pregnancy with her little boy that was now two years old! This time I wanted this session to feel more natural, pulled back, and not quite as glam as the first time.

For this maternity session, I wanted something more natural, pulled back, and understated than what we created the first time.
What Mom Wore for Her Alpharetta Maternity Photography
Lexi didn’t have a preference for styling because this session was for a mentoring day I was teaching. I styled everything!
She wore a white spaghetti-strap dress that I found at a thrift store. We also used an oversized men’s coat that I scored for ONE DOLLAR at a thrift store. Yes. $1!!
The backdrops were from Fancy Fabrics & Props, and I wanted the entire session to feel softer and more natural. It was proof that you definitely don’t need an over-the-top outfit to create beautiful maternity photos.
Soft, Natural Maternity Photos With a Little Hair Magic
Lexi curled her own hair and did soft makeup before coming in. I told her I wanted soft, flowy curls with plenty of volume, so once she got to the studio, I teased her hair and added hairspray.
She always jokes that the ONLY time her hair ever looks the way it does in my photos is when I get my hands on it. She said the last time it looked that good was a few years earlier when she modeled for me the first time, and apparently she hadn’t been able to recreate it since LOL!
For this session, I wanted more natural expressions and something more pulled back than our first maternity shoot. Between the simple white dress, oversized coat, soft curls, and backdrop styling, we were able to create different looks without making everything feel super glam.
Lexi had no problem letting me take over the styling, which made this such a fun session to use while I was mentoring. And after modeling for me twice, I think we can officially say maternity model calls are our thing haha!
