Maggie’s family drove from Sandy Springs for her newborn session! Dreamy lifestyle setups, sibling photos, and sweet newborn details.
Mom Aubrey and her family made the drive from Sandy Springs to my photography studio for Maggie’s newborn session with me. Maggie was just 9 days old. I’ve had the absolute pleasure of photographing Aubrey a few times now. So it means so much to me to follow their family along and photograph their new baby girl!
Below I’m recapping Maggie’s session for anyone in Sandy Springs looking for newborn photography with me, but head here if you want more details about my newborn photography!

I’m so incredibly grateful for families who come back to me as they grow!

This new lifestyle setup in the studio is everything to me! I recently changed things around in my newborn studio. I made space for a permanent lifestyle set next to dreamy window curtains. I am beyond obsessed with how it looks!

Mama wore a beautiful, neutral tan toned gown with pink and white embroidered flowers. I had big sister in a matching outfit. Dad wore a green shirt and khaki pants. We used a darling blue & ivory lace newborn romper from my client closet for Maggie.

YES, that’s right – I have a client closet available to all of my clients! The shades of blues and greens mixed with the tans and greys in the backdrop were the PERFECT pairing.

We started off with family pictures. Big sister sat on dad’s lap a bit because she was timid. That is totally common for kiddos of any age. I kept my distance, used a soft voice and happy tones, and let her warm up at her own pace.

The thing I love so much about this set is that I am able to move angles and quickly change backdrops. One side is classic and warm with the textured canvas background. The other side is bright and dreamy through the window light.

I used that to my advantage and photographed so many different set ups. From the entire family together, just parents with Maggie, just mom, and just dad in front of both backdrops. It gave a completely different feel throughout the gallery.

I really wanted to snag some special sibling photos of just the girls together. I set up my little newborn bed next to the window. Then I placed down gorgeous vintage crochet blankets I found at antique stores.

I LOVE the image of mom pointing to Maggie’s nose to try to get big sister to kiss it. We couldn’t quite talk big sis into that! But we ended up getting the sweetest images of the two sisters together.

Once family photos were done, it was time for Maggie to have her moment to shine! I kept her in the gorgeous spot from the sibling photos and focused on her tiny little features. Oh, how gorgeous is her hair!?

She was a sleepy dream, so I moved her to a tiny white iron bed with the daintiest little details. She even let me change her into a precious yellow romper with ivory lace details. As a matter of fact, I purchased both of these outfits from Lovely Baby Photo Props! She looked like a DOLL BABY here. Just perfection sent straight down from heaven!

Knowing how to work with children is crucial when photographing families. I studied early childhood education for five years in high school and college, and children have always been my passion.
I am extremely familiar with how to work with them so they feel comfortable, at ease, welcomed, and not rushed. Eventually, they always warm up and come around!

This family newborn session is one of the first photoshoots I’ve done on my new lifestyle set with this pulled-back, organic, candid style. I just have to say…I’m LOVING every second of it.
The way these images pull at my heartstrings is exactly what I was hoping to achieve with this shift in style. Don’t forget that I definitely still offer my old style for anyone that wants it!
