Lakyn’s family drove from Atlanta for her newborn session! Completely baby-led, relaxed and oh so girlie!
Judie and her family made the drive from Atlanta to my photography studio for baby Lakyn’s newborn session with me. I first met mom when I photographed her maternity session. She originally found me through a friend who had also come to me for photos. Since we incorporated pinks and florals into her maternity session, I knew I wanted to carry those same details into Lakyn’s newborn photos too.
This sweet baby girl was SO sleepy and barely woke up for me the entire session! Below I’m recapping Lakyn’s session for anyone in Atlanta with a baby girl looking for newborn photography with me, but head here if you want more details about my newborn photography!

I loved bringing the pinks and florals from mama’s maternity photos into Lakyn’s newborn session so the two sessions felt connected.

I started with putting her in the most adorable outfit with pink flowers and a matching bow headband. We got several poses of her on a neutral cream backdrop, and she even flashed me a few sweet smiles!

I love getting photos on my posing table with the simple blanket as the backdrop. It keeps your focus on the precious baby and all of their perfect details rather than getting distracted by lots of decorations and fluff.

Once we completed a few different poses on my posing table, I transferred her over to a plush blanket. We got the dreamiest photos of her sleeping so peacefully.

Honestly, this setup probably takes the cake for me and is my favorite out of her entire Atlanta baby girl newborn session. Something about the dreamy lighting, the bunched-up blanket that looks softer than clouds, and her antique bonnet made her look like a real-life vintage baby doll.

She curled up so sweetly, so I took full advantage and got several different angles of her perfect face. I was also able to get detail photos of her hands and feet, which always end up being some of my favorite photos from newborn sessions.

It was time to move baby girl over to a prop, so I placed a white iron bed on a wooden floor backdrop. I placed a soft blanket on the bed and topped it with a gorgeous soft pink pillow with the most darling ruffles.

The frilly bonnet on her big cheeks was the perfect addition, which just so happened to match the pillow. I added some flowers around the bed prop, and it became the cutest little classic setup!

I dressed her in a vintage ivory sweater, which actually isn’t typical of me…and I couldn’t love how it came out any more.

Next, I swaddled her up in a pink wrap and placed her on a pink fur flokati from the amazing company Luneberry. I got some photos of her with a bonnet as well as a headband.

After baby girl’s photos, it was time for family pictures. We finished with pictures of mom and dad holding their precious newborn baby girl.

I can’t help but grin seeing the love parents share for their new little bundle of joy. After photographing mama’s maternity session with pinks and florals, I loved carrying those details into Lakyn’s newborn photos.
